In this workshop on mycoremediation, we will focus on a hands-on approach to applying the natural abilities of decomposing fungi to process and convert common waste streams such as sawdust, straw, coffee grounds, cardboard, and others. We will also showcase how decomposing fungi can even remediate oil based contaminants on these common waste items.

Family friendly, kids welcomed!

What to bring: Bug spray (there are mosquitos!), water, sunscreen, gloves. We highly recommend wearing long pants. No sandals or open-toed shoes!

Parking: Circle Acres Preserve is located next to Roy G. Guerrero Park off of Grove Boulevard. Park in the lot located at 508 Grove Blvd. See the map for directions, parking lot location, and how to find the trail entrance.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Throughout his career, Daniel has excelled in research and development within the biotech startup ecosystem, contributing to innovative projects spanning bioremediation, agriculture, and education. Beyond his corporate roles, he is a co-founder of the Central Texas Mycological Society and the visionary mind behind initiatives such as MycoAlliance, Funga y Flora, and Spawn Lab MX. His latest endeavor, Casa Fungi, serves as a physical and digital resource hub for practitioners and professionals in applied mycology. With a focus on fostering collaboration, education, and innovation, Daniel's contributions continue to drive advancements in mycological research and application.
