Orchid & Mushroom Walk

Did you know there are wild orchids in Central Texas? Better yet, did you know that some orchids are Mycoheterotrophs, meaning it relies on fungi for their nutrients rather than photosynthesis. Join Angel and Sam the Fungi from Central Texas Mycological Society for a walk to see the rare, Hexalectris nitida. We hope to see it blooming as it was close this last weekend. With the recent rain, we can also expect to see more mushrooms fruiting. Bring a smart phone or camera, basket or mesh bag, rubber boots or water shoes for high-water crossings.
We have a limited number of tickets that are open to MEMBERS ONLY. If you want to bring a friend, encourage them to sign up on our website to become a member and we will send over the invitation. We also offer memberships for those facing economic hardship. Don't hesitate to reach out and let us know why you want to become a member.

Tickets are $5 and includes a recycled mushroom grow block to take home.
Meeting location will be sent on Thursday. Bring your swim clothes if you want to take a dip after the walk.
