Learn the skills necessary for wild mushroom foraging and cultivation.

Register for the class and be entered to win 2 tixs to OK Mushroom Fest Winners announced at the online class!

The class will begin by introducing the fundamentals of mushroom foraging, including essential gear and safety precautions for collecting mushrooms. Students will also learn professional identification techniques, such as making a spore print and effectively using a local field guide. For edible mushrooms, the course will further explore tissue sampling techniques for cultivation, including tissue cloning, transfers, and inoculation. By the end of this class, participants will have acquired practical and hands-on professional knowledge to safely forage and cultivate the same genetics they collect in the field.

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKER

Jacob DeVecchio is an entrepreneur with a mushroom business called "Oklahoma Fungi." He was raised in Oklahoma City and is the first in his family to cultivate and forage mushrooms. He started Oklahoma Fungi in 2020 to provide mushroom cultivation supplies and free educational opportunities for his local community. He also started the Oklahoma Mushroom Festival in 2023 to help foster the booming mushroom community in Oklahoma.
