Join us for a special evening honoring a decade of community mycology, soil regeneration, and mushroom-powered innovation that started at the Myco Research Station at Circle Acres.
We’ll hear from members and guest speakers carrying this work forward beyond Central Texas:
🍄 Daniel Reyes — Founding member of Central Texas Mycological Society, MycoAlliance, and the Myco Research Station. In his talk, “Beyond Decomposition: Lessons from a Decade in Applied Mycology,” Daniel will reflect on 10 years of transforming spent mushroom blocks into tools for mycoremediation, composting, and ecosystem repair—from Central Texas to his current work in the Yucatán.
🌾 Sydney Gibson — Soil researcher and fungi enthusiast, presenting: “Spent Mushroom Substrate as a Regenerative Tool.” Based on her undergrad research, Sydney explores how spent oyster mushroom substrate boosts carbon cycling, CO₂ activity, and microbial life in soil. Learn how fungi continue healing the earth—even after their final flush.
🍄 Angel Schatz — Formerly an experience designer and animator in the tech world, she hopes to inspire more people dial into the wood-wide-web. Angel Schatz radiates passion for understanding the ecosystem of central Texas and making mycology education accessible to anyone who shares interest. She is a long-time urban gardener; harmonizing vegetable gardening and mushroom growing, particularly by using recycled mushroom blocks.
🎉 Whether you’re a grower, a soil nerd, or a curious fungi fan, this event will spark ideas for how waste can become renewal.
