Completely new to mycology, two UT architecture students set out to explore the material and design potential of mycelium found in spent mushroom blocks. In their Waste to Wonder studio project, Rachel and Ryan experimented with various fabrication techniques including leather growing, dry stacking, and 3D printing. The semester culminated with interior objects of different sizes and functions. We will be sharing the successes and failures from our process and hope to learn from everyone with similar experiences too!
