Learn how to make an excellent soil amendment in your own backyard by joining us in this hands-on workshop where we will learn about Johnson-Su Bioreactors together! A Johnson-Su Bioreactor is a low-maintenance, passive composting system that yields highly fungal compost! This design was created by husband-wife duo, Dr. David Johnson and Hui Chun Su, during Johnson's PhD research at New Mexico State University. The method has since been modified to become very easy for backyard compost making.

In this workshop we’ll observe a bioreactor created for Circle Acres Nature Preserve and discuss why and how the bioreactor works, as well as how to successfully build, maintain, and use the compost in a yard or garden.

Led by Austin Davenport and Eric Paulus, Ecology Action of Texas.
