Chris Kennedy

Project Coordinator

Christopher Kennedy is the associate director at the Urban Systems Lab at The New School and lecturer in the Parsons School of Design. As an artist and scholar, Kennedy’s research explores the social-ecological benefits of urban plant communities, multispecies thinking, and community-based approaches to environmental stewardship and environmental art.

Andie Marsh

Community Science

Andie Marsh is the founder of Rhizos LLC is a soil biology lab. I evaluate soils, substrates, and amendments with a microscope and provide detailed write-ups so growers and land managers can STOP managing symptoms, and START addressing causes.

Eric Paulus

Land Steward

Eric Paulus is the Operations Director at Ecology Action’s Circle Acres Nature Preserve. Before joining Ecology Action, Eric owned a small farm and plant nursery called Regeneration Eco-Farm.

Samantha Sanders

Art

Samantha Sanders is an Austin-based mushroom cultivator and fungal artist who nurtures her work and loves watching things grow. She has been growing her fungal art forms since 2021 and has been surprised by the seemingly endless knowledge and possibilities the bio-fabrication space has to offer. She is highly conscientious of the environment, and wants to spread the importance of reducing waste through biodegradable art. Samantha aims to reduce negative stigmas against mushrooms, and hopes her art will help people understand the complexity of the Fungal Kingdom.

Angel Schatz

Communications

Angel Schatz radiates passion for understanding the ecosystem of central Texas and making mycology education accessible to anyone who shares interest. She is also a member of leadership team of Austin Organic Gardeners; harmonizing vegetable gardening and mushroom growing, particularly by using recycled mushroom blocks. Formally an experience designer and animator in the tech world, she hopes to inspire more people dial into the wood-wide-web.
