Did you know there are wild orchids in Central Texas? Better yet, did you know that some orchids are Myco-heterotrophic, meaning they rely on fungi for their nutrients rather than photosynthesis.

Join Angel and Sam the Fungi from Central Texas Mycological Society for a walk to see the rare, Hexalectris nitida. We hope to see it blooming as it was close this last weekend. Learn more about myco-heterotrophs on our blog post by Grace Stark a mycology PhD student at Berkeley.

With the recent rain, we can also expect to see more mushrooms fruiting. Bring a smart phone or SLR camera, basket or mesh bag, rubber boots or water shoes for water crossings.
