LIST OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND EDUCATION GOALS MET IN 2022
CTMS formed in 2019, right before the pandemic. Like hyphae in disturbed soil, we thrive with an 800+ and growing, global membership, a recycled mushroom block program that keeps thousands of pounds of organic matter out of the waste stream, AND a roster of fungtastic monthly events and programming.
This year CTMS spearheaded Healthy Soil, Healthy Trees, a partnership with Urban Forestry Council and Ecology Action, to conduct community research on mycorrhizal relationships in urban reforestation efforts.
CTMS is partnering in a community-wide mycorrhizal study with Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, City of Austin and Travis county. This project will help Central Texas better preserve and increase our biodiversity in flora, funga and fauna.
CTMS will continue building the UT Fungarium collection of Fungi for various research and viewing opportunities, as well as continue to facilitate a dense roster of weekly workshops, lectures and community volunteer opportunities.
All community outreach and programming is done as a volunteer run organization and thanks to donations from their members.
